Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Backend Developer to join our Digital Technology team in Berlin. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining backend solutions for various applications, including corporate websites, website/app backends, and API interfaces. You will work with cutting-edge technologies including PHP 8 and NodeJS/Typescript to build scalable and performant systems.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop backend solutions for various applications, including corporate websites, website/app backends, and API interfaces
- Integrate new features into existing applications using object-oriented programming with PHP 8 and NodeJS/Typescript
- Design and optimize databases using MySQL 8, ensuring efficient data modeling and performance
- Conceptualize, plan, and implement new modules and features for a central/headless CMS
- Rewrite specific endpoints into microservices to improve system architecture and scalability
- Participate in full development lifecycle: from concept and implementation to testing, code reviews, and deployments
- Continuously optimize, enhance, and maintain existing backend systems
- Evaluate and adopt new technologies to improve development processes and system performance
Requirements
- Completed degree in Business Informatics, Media Informatics, or a comparable professional qualification
- Professional experience in backend development with PHP (CakePHP optional) and/or NodeJS/Typescript
- Ability to understand and work within an existing codebase (NodeJS or PHP) to grasp full data flows
- Strong analytical skills with a structured, independent, and careful working style
- Team-oriented mindset with excellent collaboration abilities
- Solid understanding of MVC architectures and RESTful API design
- Experience with Git for version control and collaborative development
- Experience with containerization using Docker
- Fluent English (both written and spoken); German skills are a plus but not mandatory
