Job Overview
We are seeking a talented and passionate freelance travel writer to join our team and help us share unique and captivating stories about travel destinations, culture, and experiences. This is a remote freelance position offering competitive compensation, flexible scheduling, and exposure to a large and passionate audience.
Job Responsibilities
- Choose article topics selected from a curated pool of opportunities
- Research and write original, high-quality travel articles
- Pitch article topics to the Editorial team for approval
- Be a dedicated and consistent contributor to the site
- Follow TheTravel's general Editorial Guidelines while producing unique and engaging content
- Produce articles in a timely manner to ensure that the latest industry news and most interesting content are always available to TheTravel's loyal readers
- Work under tight deadlines and submit tasks on time
- Collaborate with Lead Editor to implement feedback efficiently
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field
- 5 years of experience in producing travel and related content
- In-depth familiarity with and fierce passion for the travel industry, especially the latest travel content
- Experience with SEO practices and optimization
- Experience with a custom Content Management System (CMS), preferred
- Cruise industry professional, travel agent, or frequent cruiser with 5+ years hands-on experience
- Firsthand knowledge of cabin classes, major cruise lines, ports, and onboard logistics
- Strong ability to work under tight deadlines and manage time effectively
- Commitment to producing original, high-quality content (AI-generated content prohibited)
